E KOMO MAI! Welcome to the Aiea Glass Shack where Calvin works on making glass beads, stained glass and fused pieces. He makes boro shot glasses, fabricates tools; and plants a garden around this work area.
Calvin moved from San Jose to Hawaii in 1998 and calls Aiea his home.
After 16 years of working with soft glass, creating his popular floral beads, Calvin has now started working with hard glass, mainly boro, creating shot glasses. From his beginning hothead, he moved to a mid range with a minor on top; and now works with a mid range and a red max.
During his 16 years in Hawaii, he has taught hundreds of students the art of lampworking and fusing, along with the appreciation of glass. He has had students from Canada to New Zealand, CA to NY. and he certainly enjoys these new friends within the bead community.
Although he no longer teaches classes, he welcomes anyone interested in glass to stop by to "talk story". He continues to make beads and he'll be glad to give a demo of his working. Give us a call or email and come visit!!
